Prepare for those holiday art shows like a professional with this workshop. Whether you’re new to art and craft shows or looking to expand your regular rotation, this workshop will help you focus on what is important. Right now, most major art fairs have their applications open and it’s up to you to decide what is right for you and create an application that stands out. That’s a lot of pressure. The creative owner behind Pigsey Art, Brandy Davis has experience on both sides of art shows having shown at over 100 events over 10 years and produced or worked behind scenes at another dozen art fairs. She’s prepared to share tips on finding shows to apply to, including niche events, and best practices for how to make your application stand out. Come prepared with questions and to take notes so you can leave prepared to take on the holidays this year.

For most art festivals and open calls, photography of your work plays a crucial role in catching the eye of the jury. Do your images clearly show your talent and craftsmanship? Will they stand out among the many other applicants? In this workshop brought to you by Chula League and Crafting Exposure, we will discuss what makes for quality jury photography, whether you do it yourself or hire a professional. With these best practices, you will be armed to pursue more art opportunities with a greater chance to acceptance.

Annie Winsett is the owner and head photographer of Crafting Exposure. Her business was born out of a passion for the local art community and a desire to support their ongoing development. Her offerings range from photography to consulting to marketing. She’s worked with a wide array of Austin artists in furthering their creative careers.

Chula League’s Little Artist BIG ARTIST mentorship program showcased at Mondo Gallery with an
Art Benefit Show Filled with Works From Six East Austin Elementary Schools and 35 Professional Artists

(AUSTIN, TEXAS – April 10, 2018) Grounded in East Austin, Chula League, producers of Cherrywood Art Fair, and Mondo are partnering to present the 10th Annual Little Artist BIG ARTIST Benefit Show. The two day art showcase, hosted by Mondo, feature works of over 70 artists (Little and BIG) from Chula League’s arts-mentorship program, Little Artist BIG ARTIST. The opening reception is Friday, April 27 at 7PM. Celebrating 10 years of arts-mentorship, guests will dance to music, be merry with drinks and eat delicious bites during the reception. Attendees can bid on each of the 41 Little Artists pieces, starting at $50 each. The funds raised at this event go back to each of the six East Austin Elementary schools, keeping true to Chula League’s mission in fueling and sustaining the arts in East Austin. Gallery hours on Saturday, April 28 are 10AM – 5PM. In addition to the silent auction, T-shirts and donation opportunities benefits Chula League’s Little Artist BIG ARTIST mentorship program.

Launched in 2007, Little Artist BIG ARTIST is a unique mentoring experience that pairs professional artists with fifth and sixth graders from East Austin elementary schools. During the ten week, one-on-one program, each Little Artist create two art pieces. BIG ARTISTS provide their time and draw upon their experience as working artists to teach their Little Artists how to turn their ideas into art, and their art into a business.

Chula League
Chula League is a nonprofit formed in 2005 to support the arts, and art education in East Austin and is managed by a small, grassroots board of directors. Chula League works to ensure that the arts play a valued role in the educational, economic, and cultural well being of East Austin neighborhoods.
