Bigger on the Inside Art Show

We are so excited to be partnering with Mondo Gallery to present our Bigger on the Inside art show. We’ll be showcasing the work of over 60 artists, both Big and Little! The art pieces from our Big Artists will be for sale, and the work from our Little Artists is a preview of some of the work that will be on auction at the Cherrywood Art Fair in December.

Sales from our FREE art show benefit our arts mentorship program, Little Artist BIG ARTIST. Join us for our opening reception, Friday, June 23rd at 7:00pm. Come enjoy free drinks from Austin Eastciders, Brown

Popped! — A Pop Culture Art Show

Curated by Vincent X. Torres of the artist group Half-Human, POPPED! is a group art show comprised of twenty of the finest illustrators working in the Austin area today! Each will pay tribute to their favorite fictional characters from the world of movies, television and pop culture via limited edition prints and original artwork. The opening reception will be on Saturday, May 27th from 7 to 10pm and the artwork will remain up through June 24th. All artwork will be available for purchase. The good folks at GoodPop will be on hand, supplying their delicious all-natural frozen pops to guests on opening night. Small Town Brewery will also be in attendance, providing complimentary adult beverages from their roster of nostalgic craft flavors. A portion of the night’s proceeds will benefit Chula League’s Little Artist BIG ARTIST arts mentoring program.

9th Annual Little Artist BIG ARTIST art show

Our next event is the 9th Annual Little Artist BIG ARTIST art exhibit opening. Join us Thursday, April 27 from 6–8pm at the Dougherty Arts Center. The art exhibit is the culmination of 10 weeks of work by our 40 Little Artists and 35 BIG ARTIST. Our Little Artists are 5th and 6th graders representing six East Austin elementary schools. Each Little Artist will show one of their two artworks alongside a piece created by their BIG ARTIST mentor.

We’ll also have live music from the Blackshear Soundwaves Orchestra, Maplewood Ukulele Choir, Allison Dragon Choir and the Barbara Jordan Choir. The reception is free and Spanish translation will be provided. Come out and experience a unique Austin art scene! Can’t make the art opening reception? The artwork will be available for viewing through May 21st.

Join us at the East Austin Studio Tour!

Join us at the East Austin Studio Tour!

We’ll be at a few E.A.S.T events this weekend – join us!

First up, we have Little E.A.S.T, an event at Blackshear Elementary that features student artwork from our Little Artist BIG ARTIST program and other student artwork from around East Austin. The 2015 event is November 21, 2015 from 10 AM – 3 PM. It features not only student artwork, but also a S.W.A.N drum circle, a garden mural, Shakespeare performances, improve with the Blackshear Drama Club, and storytelling. More info here.

Furthermore, a number of our upcoming Cherrywood Art Fair artists are participating in E.A.S.T. They include: BDJ Craft Works, Bright Beam Good, Carly Weaver, Eya Claire, Graffiti Wester, Hotline Ink, Victrola Design, and Fisk and Fern.
