It’s time to apply for the 16th annual Cherrywood Art Fair! Our much-anticipated holiday shopping event sees loyal attendees return year after year to buy from Texas artists for everyone on their list. Over 4,500 attendees a day keeps our artists busy. Good thing we have volunteers with a free coffee cart to keep them fueled! Cherrywood Art Fair takes place December 9 & 10, 2017 10am – 5pm at Maplewood Elementary. Application deadline is 11:59PM,  September 1, 2017!

Meet the 2017 Cherrywood Art Fair Jury

Every year Chula League selects a new slate of jurors for the Cherrywood Art Fair artist application process. Jurors with varying art and handmade backgrounds are chosen to help curate a well rounded art fair. After the juror scores are compiled, our Artist Coordinator curates those with top marks, with consideration for media balance, and a certain percentage of new artists each year. Richie Deegan

A natural draftsman and painter, emerging Austin artist Richie Deegan produces original expressionist and figurative paintings which project the pains and joys of his everyday life. Deegan has recently shown in the historic Haley & Steele art gallery in Boston and has been described as “a fresh, talented new face to emerge from the vibrant Austin art scene…his work is deeply personal and symbolic, emotive, and has profound roots in his own spirituality — one of THE new artists to watch.” Follow him on:

Amanda Lewis has been a proud member of Austin’s maker community since 2011; she enjoys leather work, block-printing, and metal sculpture. She serves as a community organizer for the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault.

9th Annual Little Artist BIG ARTIST Art Show

Please join us on Thursday, April 27 from 6–8pm at the Dougherty Arts Center for our 9th Annual Art Show! The Spring Art Exhibition is the culmination of 10 weeks of work by our 40 Little Artists.

These 5th and 6th graders represent six East Austin elementary schools. Each Little Artist will show one of their two artworks alongside one of their BIG ARTIST mentor’s pieces.

We’ll also have live music from the Blackshear Soundwaves Orchestra, Maplewood Ukulele Choir, Allison Dragon Choir and the Barbara Jordan Choir. The reception is free, and Spanish translation will be provided. Come out and experience a unique Austin art scene!
