Money Chicha

Money Chicha incorporates the psychedelic sound of guitars, combo organ, fuzz, and reverb with heavy percussion, cumbia rythyms and the melodies of Colombia and Peru. Their music is an homage to the musical and cultural movement of the ’60s and 70’s that was known as chicha. Members of Money Chicha also perform with Grupo Fantasma and Brownout.

Jimmy Lohman

A longtime Cherrywood resident, guitarist-singer Jimmy Lohman grew up in New York City and reached Austin via New Orleans. He plays a mix of jazz, r&b and pop classics from the 1930’s to the 1970’s. His latest CD, recorded in NOLA, is “Storyville”.

Colin Gilmore

Colin Gilmore grew up in Lubbock, Texas, spending many nights as a child in nightclubs like Stubbs, where he witnessed songwriters like Joe Ely, Terry Allen, and his own father, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, bring the stage to life. He developed a taste for Buddy Holly, Townes Van Zandt, and bands like The Clash and The Pogues. For 13 years, Colin has been informed by these observations, writing songs and playing under his own name. Colin’s brand new release “The Wild and Hollow” is already winning over fans and critics alike.

Kathy Murray and the Kilowatts

The legendary Kathy Murray needs no introduction to Austin’s musical faithful. Murray developed her vision of the blues in the formative days of the Austin blues scene, jamming with luminaries like Stevie Ray Vaughan, W.C. Clark, and members of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. A blues singer and songwriter par excellence, from the time she first burst on the Austin music scene Kathy has been wowing audiences with a tremendous live show, and sharing the stage with everyone from Albert Collins to Koko Taylor.

Troy Campbell

Longtime Austin journeyman musician, filmmaker and leader of the house of songs plays a rare live concert. Campbell has released 8 CDs with more to come. His film work includes You’re Gonna Miss Me, a documentary about 13th Floor Elevators frontman Roky Erickson. He also produced and appears in the documentary, All I Know, filmed at a House of Songs songwriting retreat at Denmark’s Engelsholm Castle.

Girls Rock Austin Showcase

Girls Rock Austin is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls and women of all backgrounds and abilities through musical education and performance. GRA is a day camp exclusively for girls ages 10-17. Qualified counselors instruct campers in guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, or vocals. Armed with fresh skills, campers form bands, write original songs together & perform. Our primary goal is building girls’ self-esteem through musical performance and artistic creativity.
